NDRI LTR Meeting Minutes from 07/03/08
Meeting called to order at 10:07 AM
Marie Williams, Board of Directors – opens with prayer.
Dale Kimball, Executive Director – gives General Update
30 Projects in the works in St. Tammany Parish
7 Projects in the works in Washington Parish
More projects pending for the Northshore
With other case management agencies drawing down, we are getting around 60 referrals each week at this point.
NDRI is currently in the process of rebuilding the Homeless Shelter in Old Town. We are waiting on a few permits to proceed.
Community Centers – The trailers at the Hwy 190 park are drawing down. That community center will shut down at the end of September. The I-59 site is doing very well. Project NOAH has a Tuesday night BBQ at that site during the summer and Aldersgate will host MADD camp later in the summer at the I-59 park. We are currently seeking more funding through LFRC.
Long Term Vision – NDRI is not closing down. However, it is time for the partnership to examine what the future holds and what NDRI will look like in the case of another storm. If you are interested in meeting to discuss the long term vision of NDRI, please contact Ashlie.
NODRP – NDRI supports the new structure of NODRP but will not support any plan that takes the ultimate authority away from the local LTRO.
To date, NDRI has received 4.2 million dollars in funding.
The Midwest has sustained substantial damage from the flooding of the Mississippi River.
If you can provide NDRI with a 15-passenger van to use from August 18-30, please contact Ashlie ASAP at 504-248-7558
Melanie, FEMA – More information will be forthcoming about the FEMA surplus that is being housed in Baton Rouge. In order to receive any merchandise, there will be a 15% acquisition cost. In addition, shipping and freight will be charged to the recipient. You must be an active 501c3. If you are not, you may use NDRI’s 501c3. Ashlie will fax or email the application next week.
Laura Hudson, Sovereign Grace – K3: A Community Celebration will be held Labor Day weekend (Fri, Sat, Sun). The celebration is looking to involve the community locally and nationally. Sovereign Grace will also launch its new relief center during this celebration. For more information, contact Laura Hudson at 985-643-8215.
Meeting adjourned at 10:58.
