General Update
100 Projects in the works
9 Rebuilding organizations are working with us
We are doing more and more work in Washington Parish. NDRI has accepted 3 new builds accepted.
The new wave of the future is new builds. NDRI can complete a new build for about 60,000 dollars in 90-120 days if vacant lot is available.
Northshore cases – NDRI is getting the worst case scenerios at this point; the people that organizations have shuffled around for 2.5 years. These cases require more time and resources. Thankfully much of our funding has come from Red Cross & Salvation Army.
NDRI has a new case manager helping Debbie Schimmeck on the Northshore: Lillie Payton,
Progress on Epworth continues. Foundation is complete and framing is almost done. It is expected to be complete by the end of June.
Expanding – NDRI is one of the only organizations that work in all 7 parishes. We have expanded and work collaboratively with the Louisiana UM Conference in a full-blown way. When the times comes that we’ve served the Northshore, we will downscale the organization. However, as of today, we provide the same resources to clients that we always have.
Debbie Myers, FEMA – Updated Trailer Information. Private Sites = 2,180 trailers & TLC (Transitional Living Communities) = 2,400. Target date for removal of trailers is June 1st. For more information, contact Debbie Myers at
Curtis, Camp Restore – Inquired about specific FEMA trailer #s. Debbie will provide these numbers to NDRI members.
Curtis, Camp Restore – Camp Restore operates two camps; one Biloxi, one in New Orleans East. Both camps holds approximately 150-200 volunteers. For more information, visit www.Camprestore.org.
Catholic Charities – Inquired about emergency funds available to clients in Washington Parish. NDRI is in the process of applying for grants that will allow money to be used in “emergency situations.”
FEMA – Application for Housing. For more information, contact Tonya Hill at
985-646-2090.
Dale Kimball, NDRI Executive Director – NDRI fits the resources to the client. Please continue presenting your cases no matter what the circumstances. There are 7 LTROs in the area. NDRI is working with these other organizations to develop a regional regional approach where there is an organization that intercedes on behalf of all 7 organizations.
